Pluribus Wins Red Herring 2014 Top 100 North America Award

Red Herring Top 100 North America AwardPalo Alto, Calif. – May 21, 2014 – Pluribus Networks, the company that brings together compute, network, storage, and virtualization into a single, open and programmable SDN platform, has won the Red Herring Top 100 North America award, honoring the year’s most promising private technology companies in North America. Red Herring editors select 100 award winners from among the approximately 3,000 tech startups financed each year in the U.S. and Canada.

Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technological innovation and intellectual property, management quality, business model, customer footprint and market penetration. This assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track record and standing of startups relative to their sector peers. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, Marin Software, Palo Alto Networks and eBay would change the way we live and work.

“This is a great accomplishment for us and I am pleased to see that the industry recognizes our efforts in the convergence of compute, network, storage and virtualization, which we are accomplishing with a highly programmable, open-standards-based platform,” said Kumar Srikantan, president and CEO of Pluribus Networks. “It is going to be a great year for us and I am proud with the work that our team has done, as well as the interest we received from customers all over the world, validating our innovative architectural approach for advancing the vision of the software-defined datacenter transformation in today’s IT infrastructures.”

“The Pluribus Netvisor™, the foundation of our transformative Freedom architecture, is virtualizing the next generation of open switches while providing the full range of Layer 2 and Layer 3 features,” said Sunay Tripathi, co-founder and CTO of Pluribus. “Coupled with OpenStack and other rack controllers, Netvisor is the critical building block for rack-scale architectures in our customers’ environments.”

“In 2014, selecting the top 100 achievers was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “In fact, we had the toughest time in years because so many entrepreneurs had crossed significant milestones so early. But after much thought, rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across North America to the top 100 winners. We believe Pluribus Networks embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. Pluribus should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was very strong.”

Earlier this month, Pluribus has also been named a finalist for the 2014 TiE50 awards program. This year, the TiE50 Awards Program screened more than 2,800 companies from 27 countries; only about 100 companies were selected to the TiE50 Finalist pool.
