PALO ALTO, Calif. – June 25, 2015 – Pluribus Networks, the company that advances software-defined networking (SDN) through the industry’s most programmable, open source-based operating system, Netvisor®, announced today that following up on its Red Hat certification announced in May 2015, it has partnered with Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT) and Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI) to demonstrate the industry’s most open and scalable converged infrastructure by combining Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux (ONVL), Micro-Blade servers from Supermicro® and Red Hat OpenStack. This powerful combination of best-of-breed solutions enables public and private cloud providers to quickly and cost-effectively deliver and deploy Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), allowing them to easily compete with established cloud vendors. The combination enables the industry’s most granular multi-tenancy support with comprehensive data flow-level visibility to address the need for highly secure transactions across the entire infrastructure.
“Supermicro’s ultra-high density MicroBlade System (0.05U, 0.1U. 0.2U) with 25/10/2.5/1GbE SDN switches offer the most scalable and cost-effective means to rapidly deploy hyper-converged infrastructure solutions,” said Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro. “Our collaboration with Pluribus and Red Hat delivers a fully integrated open-source Linux-based IaaS solution with the comprehensive management, security and analytics features required for dynamic adaptability in enterprise and cloud-scale environments.”
“With the Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux operating system, the entire network underlay can be exported as one logical fabric via Neutron plugin and RESTful APIs. Netvisor’s VNET-based segmentation allows the fabric to be freely virtualized, with each VNET managed by its own Neutron plugin allowing multiple OpenStack and other cloud management systems to share the same network without impacting each other,” said Sunay Tripathi, Co-Founder and CTO of Pluribus Networks, “Most importantly, the much acclaimed Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux fabric-wide visibility and analytics are available also as OpenStack’s Horizon dashboard extensions. This deep interoperability with OpenStack enables a level of computing and networking convergence only dreamed about several years ago. Both NetOps and DevOps teams can take full advantage of our solution without the typical re-learning and forklift-upgrade approaches seen elsewhere.”
Pluribus Networks delivers a unique approach to software-defined networks by offering the industry’s only solution that can be managed much like any common server is managed today, along with complete Layer-2 and Layer-3 support to allow it to be used in all existing infrastructures. In addition, by offering the industry’s only distributed controller architecture, customers can enjoy unlimited scale with no single point of failure. The Pluribus solution also offers built-in, tap-free visibility to all of the traffic flowing throughout the entire network, which may include millions of MACs and hundreds of thousands of VMs and all of their associated data flows.
As part of this hyper-converged demonstration, Pluribus Networks will be showcasing its newly available Open Netvisor Linux software for Supermicro’s MicroBlade servers running Red Hat, along with its support for OpenStack via the Neutron plugin. Pluribus Networks is unique in the SDN industry with regards to its foundational interoperability with existing Layer-2 and Layer-3/BGP infrastructures and network operations support processes, while delivering the industry’s most comprehensive level of software-defined connectivity, tap-less visibility of data flows and the requisite analytics to interpret that information.
Anchor Pluribus Networks will be demonstrating its interoperability with Red Hat RHEL 5 OpenStack using Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux running on platforms from partners Supermicro and Dell at the Red Hat Summit 2015 at booth 202, being held this week in Boston, MA.
