Pluribus Networks Demos Enhanced SDN-Powered Security and Compliance Capabilities at Internet2 Global Summit

PALO ALTO, Calif. – April 21, 2015 – Pluribus Networks, the company that brings hyper-convergence to software-defined networking (SDN) through the industry’s most programmable, open-source based operating system, Netvisor® (nvOS), announced today its participation in the Internet2 Global Summit, taking place April 26-30, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Internet2 is a non-profit community comprised of 252 U.S. universities and more than 65 national research and education networks representing more than 100 countries. The global summit brings together CIOs and other leaders from organizations around the world in a conversation with thought leaders, decision makers, technologists and end-users.

With the rise of virtualization, BYOD and the Internet of Things, the need for highly granular visibility and control over the network has risen as well. With potential threats coming not only from outside the network, but also inside the network, organizations running sophisticated education and research networks need the ability to see traffic and flows in the network while also having the ability to take actions to block unwanted traffic while protecting needed applications and ensuring QoS.

Exhibiting in Booth 1 at the Internet2 Global Summit, Pluribus Networks is showing a variety of capabilities allowing network administrators to effectively cope with these challenges, including:

  • Network virtualization and segmentation, allowing services such as student, faculty, funded research, and physical security traffic to be securely delivered over the same infrastructure
  • Sophisticated network analytics built into the Pluribus Netvisor platform, allowing even brownfield network operators deep visibility into network usage and trends without the need for expensive external TAPs or additional analytics networks
  • Integration with third-party security and content delivery systems enabling a variety of capabilities, including effective response to DCMA take down notices
  • Intuitive, easy-to-use network management capabilities enabled by Pluribus Networks Netvisor cluster fabric technology, providing network wide single point of management and vManage GUI-based management

“We are thrilled to be back at Internet2. In listening to customers in higher education, we find that ease of use, single point of management and the ability to monitor and secure the entire network are all key requirements in this space. I think that our demos, built in a realistic simulation of an .edu network, illustrate some of the ways in which Pluribus can help universities and other organizations deal with security, network visibility, mobility, BYOD and other challenges that many campus IT administrators are grappling with today,” said Bob Layton, Pluribus Networks vice president of North America sales and channels. Layton will be part of the team representing Pluribus at the show.
