Pluribus Networks to Demonstrate Netvisor Network Hypervisor with Intel Compute and Switching Components at Intel Developer Forum 2014

Palo Alto, Calif. – September 8, 2014 – Pluribus Networks, the company that brings together compute, network, storage and virtualization into a single, open and programmable SDN platform, announced today its participation in the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2014, taking place in San Francisco, September 9-11, 2014. The company will demonstrate the capabilities of Netvisor, its network hypervisor, whose portability allows it to operate across different Intel® technology families while its use of merchant silicon addresses evolving network economics. The demo will take place at the Pluribus booth 927.

The Pluribus solution combines compute and network, providing network virtualization, advanced analytics, as well as control of the underlying network infrastructure, resulting in a more manageable and flexible network, while offering a programmable application platform.  At IDF 2014, the company will be demonstrating a Netvisor-based fabric-cluster consisting of the Pluribus F-Series Network Computing Appliance (NCA), the Supermicro MicroBlade chassis, and OpenStack integration for cloud orchestration.

The Pluribus NCA includes either one or two Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3 (2620s or 2640v2s) for compute and the Intel® Ethernet Switch FM6000 for switching, while using a unique mapping of the intelligence into the Intel Xeon processor compute element, offering applications true network visibility through network programmability.  The Supermicro MicroBlade is based on the Intel® Atom® processor for compute and the Intel Ethernet Switch for switching, and is the first platform to support ‘inRack’ switching, creating a foundation for future evolution to Intel’s rack-scale architecture where fabrics and visibility are required.
