Pluribus Networks Appoints Kumar Srikantan as President and CEO
PALO ALTO, Calif. – November 6, 2013 – Pluribus Networks, an innovator in software and hardware network virtualization platforms for the cloud, announced today the appointment of Kumar Srikantan as president and CEO. Srikantan brings 25 years of engineering, marketing and management experience in the software, computing, silicon and communications industries. He joined Pluribus following 14 years at Cisco, where he has served various roles, including general manager and vice president of Cisco’s Enterprise Backbone Business Unit, as well as vice president of marketing for the Cloud Switching and Services Technology Group.
“I am excited to join Pluribus Networks at a time when the company is rapidly gaining traction and has already achieved significant customer milestones in 16 countries,” said Srikantan. “I am very impressed with the founders’ background in delivering distributed operating systems, feature-rich hardware and integrated virtualization. Pluribus has created a game-changing platform whose Network Operating System stack brings scale, economics and the open innovation model of commodity computing to today’s cloud world. I look forward to joining this great team to build on Pluribus Networks’ success for years to come.”
Pluribus Networks has pioneered a distributed bare-metal network hypervisor OS technology, Netvisor®, along with defining the industry’s first server-switch hardware platform. This powerful and innovative architectural approach unites software, merchant silicon and robust system design to bring commodity server virtualization benefits for the first time directly into the network. Pluribus empowers customers to achieve the full promise of open, programmable infrastructures for delivering scalable, application-aware cloud services in a unified virtual and physical network environment, while smoothly integrating with customers’ existing datacenter technologies.
“Successfully leading the operations of multi-billion-dollar franchises for Cisco, Kumar has a recognized ability to set strategy, as well as drive growth and innovation at great scale,” said Robert Drost, Pluribus Networks co-founder and chief operating officer. “I am pleased to say that he is the ideal candidate to position the company for its next phase of expansion by cultivating existing partner and customer relationships while building new ones and expanding our team.”
Earlier this year, Pluribus Networks has been selected by both Network World and CRN as a top-10-startup-to-watch in the virtualization and SDN space.
